Vence celebrates its’ different cultures in May

‘Vence celebrates its’ different cultures’ a provencal village with international flavours from all over the world…. The Tourist Office decided to create this event upon remarking quite simply that the entire population of Vence is made up of a great many communities from completely different origins. The programme which takes place in May presents a wide spectrum of views on the world, a rich exchange of pleasure and a discovery of human wealth within our town. A festive get-together between local residents who have adopted Vence and those who originate from Vence.

This event takes place in Place Clemenceau and Passage Cahours and Place du Grand Jardin

Representatives from different foreign communities living in Vence present their culture, history and national culinary arts… music, speciallities, local handicrafts… illustrated by the delegations encouraging the public to travel through these experiences and discover new horizons.

Convivial and warm, this event reflects generosity and openess towards others.

From the very outset of this event in 1991, it was unanimously agreed by members of the delegations, that all profits raised would be donated to charities representing these countries either within France or based in the countries themselves.

Algeria, Ecuador, Madagascar, Mexico, Morocco, Nicaragua, Portugal, Tunisia and Vietnam were present in 2007.

Also present – The Vence branch of the ‘Acceuil des Villes Françaises’ Assocation whose stand is manned by a cosmopolitan delegation and the ‘Club Nomades’ who have been working for many years in India and The Niger.

Throughout the day, the public can enjoy sampling culinary delights presented by our foreign friends, they can taste typical dishes, exotic pastries and thus discover new flavours.

Those less inclined to indulge their taste-buds can satisfy their curiosity by discovering a variety of handicrafts presented by the delegations. Folklore and traditions enchant young and old alike.
