The Historic City approaches under video monitoring

Cameras have been settled :
Portail Lévis. Porte du Signadour. Porte d’Orient. Porche Alsace Lorraine. Porte du Peyra.
In town-center, six cameras have been also settled
Avenue Colonel Meyère / Parking de la Ferrage. Parking Chagall. Place Maréchal Juin / Cariatides. Place Marc Chagall. Carrefour Jean Moulin. Place du Grand Jardin.
In a second time, the following places will also be equipped : Rond-point du Souvenir (next to Salle J. Falcoz), Rond-point des Cayrons, Rond-point Cantemerle.
Cameras are directly connected with the Municipal Police station. The pictures can be screened at any time (24hours a day and 7 days a week) on legal requisition or request of the Public prosecutor.
Respect of freedom and private life.

The camera localisation and the use of the recordings are subjected to a strict legislation aiming at preserving the privacy.

Decrease of delinquency and insecurity.
More and more towns of Alpes-Maritimes use this system with success : Villefranche-sur-Mer, Carros, Villeneuve-Loubet, Nice, Mandelieu-La-Napoule, Cannes, Antibes, la Gaude, Tourrettes-sur-Loup. Cagnes-sur-Mer, Saint-Laurent-du Var et Grasse are in project.
The presence of video monitors allows a clear increase of the rate of delict elucidation.
